The Braves officially ticked me off.I know the division title was a long shot by now,but it still doesnt make sense to trade Teixeira for Kotchman and a sub average minor league reliever.I dont feel like they got as much as they could have.Kotchman is the same age as Teixeira so its not like its a really young prospect who could develop and who knows what the reliever is gonna do?Its safe to say they've conceded this season and i dont blame them with the injuries we've had to our pitchers (and now Hudson's probably gone),but really is that all you could get?

Yes. That really was all they could get. It was either dump him for the best offer, or lose him at the end of the season with no return at all.

+1
Tex uses this agent named Scott Boras. He also doesn't play for teams that don't make the playoffs. Then the teams actually play better after he leaves.

Casey Kotchman isn't a bad player, BTW.

I actually wonder if this was a very good move for the Angels. But like all trades it just takes time to tell.

I guess the thing thats most frustrating is the price we paid for Teixeira last year and the fact that we didnt get near what we paid last year back, still without a trip to the playoffs.Yes Kotchman is solid, but the price in hindsight was too heavy.

This is a brilliant trade for Anaheim in my opinion. They instantly became world series favorites. They are now, without a doubt, the best team in the AL. The Yankees dealing a young arm for Pudge doesn't impress me too much in comparison.

Of course, by this, the Angels are putting all their eggs in the 2008 basket. They gave away a good 1b who has a ton of potential. Still, I feel this works a lot better for Anaheim.

Yep. A risk that didn't pay off.

In the last few days, Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito combined for 6 hits and 1 run allowed by Giants starters over 15 innings an 2 games. The Giants won both games.

Lincecum is amazing.

I was really impressed with what I saw of Lincecum during the San Diego game.

and I wasn't surprised about Zito. San Diego has a way of rejuvenating struggling opposing pitchers.

That's the thing... Zito hasn't exactly been struggling. This was definitely his best start of the year, though.

I don't follow the Giants close enough to know how well Zito's been doing, I just figured he was struggling based on his numbers.

Yeah.... he has been much better over his last 6 or so starts. He even had 10 strikeouts recently.

Wow. If the Giants were better on offense... their pitchers are just clicking right now. If we had Texas' offense...

Yeah, anyhow. Scary good lately.

And if we had the Giants pitching.

The Rangers team ERA in July was over 6.
