Bands That Have Turned From Christianity.

So last night I was listening to the new Destroy the Runner song. I really liked it. But I have heard from a friend whom I trust that they swear in it. "Why the hell did my walls fall down?"

I used to love these guys but I have always resented bands that turn from the Christian faith. Bands like Still Remains, Emiliana, Emarosa...etc. What do you all make if this?

I hate it when Straights turn from Christianity
After all, the whole fabric of Christianity is held together by the absence of the word "hell"

Oh wait... no it's not

What the hell?

Tell me, am I worthy to create Christian music now?

Jon Foreman said "You'd sure as hell..." on one of the songs on his recent Winter EP and as far as I can tell he's still a devoted Christian. Profanity (whether or not hell is a cuss word is a completely different argument...and a pretty stupid one, too) does not define whether or not a group is Christian. What defines their Christianity is their faith with God. If you can accept that but still can't get passed the fact that they used a word used many times in the Bible, there's a problem with you. Call it what you want, I call it legalism.

Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

I hope you're joking, and even then that's a pretty sick joke, dude.

God uses a lot of "objectionable content" in scripture.

However, vengeance rising and klank are 2 bands that seemingly left Christianity. Vengeance rising definitely left the faith, heck, one of the ex guitarists of tourniquet left the faith as well...

OSAS, Perserverance, however you want to word it, they claimed to be believers, now they are not.

I routinely use the word hell.

Do you have definitive, absolute knowledge this is the case? I have heard many of my friends at seminary drop an f bomb, and I have seen a fellow worship team member do such after an idiot choir member damaged several thousand dollars worth of equipment and tell him its not a big deal.

I'm pretty sure because they mention Hell that it doesn't mean they are not Christian.

I'm gonna say that The Agony Scene is a band that has turned, although to be quite honest, I don't know if they ever were Christian, just on a Christian label (which doesn't really mean anything).

Call me stubborn if you want, but there's no way I'm believing that Showbread does that unless I see it myself. It's one thing to do it when you are not in the presence of many other people, but when you do it from of several thousand other Christians, there's a problem. And I have a very hard time believing that the guys from that group would even dare to do that.

Well suit yourselves. Its still swearing, and any band that WANTED to be associated with Christianity would not use any profanity.
And yes, in the correct context, "hell" is a profane word.
