Bret Favre Calls It Quits

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3276034

I think he made the right call. I don't think he could expect better than to go out as an NFC Championship game participant. Besides, at least his final season was good one by the numbers.

I REALLY hope he stays retired. I'll be pretty upset if he comes back, especially for another team.

It was definitely time. Best to go out at the top of your game than to fade away.

I think it was time for him to retire, and he did have a really good year to go out on. What better way to end a career than on a personal high note?

Sad day? I think the sad day would come if he came back too often. He had a good career, and I am glad he is getting out now.

I'm sure that's what you meant to say. In full seriousness, he's probably sitting in a room somewhere thinking "Man, I no longer have one of the easiest jobs in the NFL."

One of the greatest of all time. A former co-worker met Brett when he was re-habing from his pain-killer addiction. Even got to go out on the lawn and throw the football around with him. His love of the game is what I will remember most (along with unbelievable records).

Enjoy your retirement Brett, you deserve it!

It wont happen. If he were to come back it'd be with GB or no where.

I hope the fans in GB dont make it too tough for him. They cant possibly expect him to be like Favre.I think he'll be a solid replacement but Favre was one of the best.

To me it's always a bit shocking to have an iconic, legendary sports figure who has been playing virtually my entire life to retire.

I was thinking he may have gone one more season, especially given how close he got to going to the big dance again. But it is a good time to bow out. Rogers will be a solid replacement, but the shoes are massive to fill.

More like impossible, but yeah.

Good for Brett. I'm glad I got to see him play as long as I did.

I never said I wasn't expecting it, just shocked that it's finally over....plus I kinda thought he'd play one more year.

The only thing that I think is bad about this is his final game. He had a chance to lead a game winning drive in OT to get to the Super Bowl, and threw an interception. That's a tough way to go out.

But...most people will remember him as going out as NFC champs...so definitely a good move. He had a great season. Sad to see him go, he was great to watch.
