got to do a bit of shooting with the wife's D3 and I like it.
I'm going to link these because they're just straight off the camera (huge files & res). Partly just a technical look. (4-5mb each)
ISO 200, 1/2000 @ f/2.8, 70mm on 70-200VR2 ISO 1600, 1/5 @ f/2.8, 16mm fisheye ISO 800, 1/60 @ f/2.8, 16mm fisheye ISO 200, 1/50 @ f/2.8, 16mm fisheye ISO 200, 1/160 @ f/1.4, 50mm 1.4 AFS
Interesting to look at the noise in the pictures, and how at iso 200 there's virtually no digital noise, and even at iso 1600 the noise levels are pretty low. I actually printed a copy of the 1600 shot at 20x30 and it looks pretty darn good on my cubicle wall.
I will say that I finally found a camera that felt right. It's annoying that they're so dang expensive (which is why I don't own one) but I've never liked my d80, d70, or any of the d200/d300/d2xs I've shot with- there's something about 1.5x crop after shooting a lot of film that just feels
wrong. Something about full frame makes shooting actually feel fun again. Not that my talent or skill level necessitates a camera like that, but when I have the opportunity it's pretty fun.
Not to mention that it's pretty nice to go shooting where your slowest glass is 2.8
