I bought this CD, despite a few online reviews that bashed it.

Wow, I don't know what they were thinking when they gave this album low ratings. This is by FAR the best of 2008. The reason I didn't give it a 10 is because I already knew 5 of the 10 songs, and I wish they would have done one or two more.

Matt's vocals vary a lot and stay interesting. The breakdowns are really sick, not really creative, but still done well.

Good album, buy it.

It's only March, though. Underoath may disagree with your statement.

To me this cd does nothing out of the ordinary, nothing to make me go "Oh, snap!1!", and the rhythym guitar is, if possible, louder than it was on ABR's "Messengers". The drummer is excellent, but that's about it for the standouts. Wonderfully brutal breakdowns, though occasionally they're almost too slow.

But, understand, it's loads of fun to listen/headbang too, and I really enjoyed and do not in any way regret my purchase. If you like metal, get it. 8.

To add to what I said, the vocals are much better than they were on the demos, and he's extremely good at going low, low and not at all bad at higher pitched stuff. He switches back and forth a lot, too.

Also, there's some really catchy stuff on here, and you could make a fair argument that if you've heard all 5 songs off their myspace you still haven't heard the best song.

I just got this in the mail today, I like what I've heard so far. So maybe I'll rate it in a few days when I've really tested it out.

I know its only March (haha) but there have been A LOT of releases so far. UnderOATH with certainly disagree, as will August Burns Red. (The have to put out a CD every 18 months, and the Looks Fragile After All CD doesn't count, as it was released by CI Records, not Solid-State.)

The vocals are amazing! And what I meant by hearing 5 of the songs was that from their EP and their demos, not their newly recorded stuff. But at any rate, I love it.

This is easily one of most boring metalcore records I've heard. The vocals are a little less than average, the breakdowns almost all suck, and I can't help of the potential that lyrics about Halo have. Instead, we have "Headshot!"

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal".
