| Brain Fog My mind has been feeling a bit foggy for the past few days, probably due to the cold I'm getting over, so I thought I'd do some research on the phenomena that is brain fog. I found out that the condition is not recognized by the medical community as something that can be diagnosed. There is also, apparently, no research that says that the condition exists. What I want to know is, have you experienced a mental state you would describe as "brain fog," and/or do you believe the condition exists, either as a psychological or neurological phenomenon?
To start the discussion, I would like to describe my experience with "brain fog." I find that I am slow to react to things that I would normally react to immediately. For instance, I work part-time in a meatroom at a grocery store. The other night I was on cleanup, and also had brain fog. After I was finished cleaning up, I found myself looking at some bits of meat that I missed, and not realizing until I started something else that those bits of meat should be cleaned up. I also find that, when I do notice and react to something, I am surprised by my reaction. During these periods of brain fog, I am also often surprised at my ability to speak articulately when my mind feels so slow and dull. It should also be noted that I feel markedly different while I have a brain fog, that is, when I have it, there is no question that I have it. |
