I read somewhere that Washington wasn't much of a leader at all. As in a good president or anything. I think the article (which was on leadership) basically said he was a terrible president. But it did greatly compliment him on being a great General and man of great ideals or along the likes.

Although theres the obvious that he basically created the standards (or played a role in) for presidency since there was no real precedent before him as a role model.

Johnson, despite his failings, had some very redeeming qualities (such as not running for re-election so as to focus on getting out of Vietnam). Ford too was quite impressive.

I could see some good things about the Ford Presidency. And yes, I do think Pardoning Nixon was his best move.
