This album isn't good. They definetly lack creativity, riffs are typical, boring, definetly nothing to brag about.
I love the vocalists scream, and I think it's awesome how they aren't doing the sing/scream with the clean vocal melodies.
Breakdowns lack, I mean come on guys, decide, are you hardcore or southern?
But definetly not written in stone, i'll give it more listens and vote.
But so far, complete dissapointment. First impression is that they aren't good enough to be a Solid State band.
If someone were to ask me for a southern metal band suggestion, I would recomend He Is Legend or MATSOD, even though they are rather melodic.
If someone wanted southern metal with very little cleans, I might mention these guys, but warn them that it is only mediocre.
We'll see if my mind changes. | And I now am starting to agree more and more that the CD isnt any good. I have been listening to Bringing Down Broadway instead. Not at all southern. But similar bands i think.

| I really like it. Generic as crap? You bet. Don't care.
And did anyone notice the awesome bass?? It's awesome on this cd. The vocalist is one of a kaind, to be sure, though some may find his voice grating and offensive. I'm not ready to stamp it in stone yet, but I'd say it's a decent cd. Maybe a 7. Occasionally it soars above the norm, and is totally awesome, but only in a few songs. |

| Alright...the flaws present in this cd have made themselves glaringly and painstakingly obvious over the last few weeks. And it just kills me, because I see the potential here. There are parts that are really, really cool, but all too often they are plagued by a hiedously generic section in the very same song that kills the flow. And sometimes, when they decide to be "southern", it ruins what was otherwise an excellent metal song by simply not fitting in.
One of my favorite songs, "Avoid Me Like the Plague", features and excellent example of the latter, at the part where he says "And it's hard to find your way home...". It's not...bad sounding, but it doesn't fit with what was otherwise a totally brutal and awesome song.
I believe the only song where this curious form of hybrid metal is perfectly executed is "The Dust of a Town".
That said, I do retrect my recommendation. This cd is good fun, and it flirts with perfection. Hopefully next time they'll drop the one-liners. Har-har-har. |

| "Can I get a hallelujah?" lol that parts funny (it may be the ep though).
These guys are better than half of the solid state bands, but solid state has picked up some great bands in the past year or 2 (Advent, BTA, August Burn Red).
This is good southern, I think the genre isn't nearly developed enough. .. (same as deathcore). Although it would be definitely 2nd to Maylene at the very most.

| I was foolish enough to buy this cd. Solid State needs to stop signing crappy artists. |

| Solid State has been doing amazing.
Aside from Destroy the Runner and Advent and Maybe The Famine, they are one of the best labels out there.
And BTA and August Burns Red have been signed to Solid state since 2004

Now, the vocalist for this band is quite awesome. But the guitar is crap. It's all really boring and all the songs run together to easily. All the songs are also far too long because this contributes even more to their running together.
I personally find it hard to listen to most metal bands who go around 4 minutes with a song. They get really dull a lot faster. Also, the southern sounding parts completely ruin this album.
I'll give it a six. |

| Freaking sick CD. If you are a fan of pretty much any metal you'll love it. It's pretty much Maylene And the Sons of Disaster mixed with The Devil Wears Prada. I love Gunfire Is The Sound of Freedom. One of my favorite songs.
