| Fred Thompson and defense of the Patriot Act The other day I saw Fred Thompson criticize Ron Paul for wanting to overturn the patriot act and let the prisoners in Gitmo have court dates... I was wondering how many people on CGR actually support this position.

| Well, I sorta agree with Fred, kinda agree with Ron's, and might as well throw in a smidgen of Huckabee in there as well. We'll call it 60-15-25. Or maybe 50 - 20 - 30.

| I'm actually specifically talking about the denial of Habeas Corpus to our prisoners in Gitmo. Does anybody defend this?

| I think you fellows are confusing the Patriot Act (which I mostly like), with the Military Commissions Act (which deals directly with the issue of Habeas Corpus).

If you 're holding me against my will then I'm a prisoner and prisoners are supposed to have rights in this country. You can call them temporarily detained fairies for all I care. |
