You think he was talking about the '79 situation? Gosh, that's even a worse example. I was giving him the benefit of doubt that he came up with a modern example. But, of course, Aw ain't got none learning 'bout historee.

I was definitely talking about that. It's the EXACT same thing we're doing with Gitmo.

Modern or not, (And I'd definitely call 1979 modern) it is exactly the same. Ax is correct...

I'm sorry brother. I figured you wouldn't be comparing 1979 embassy workers to modern terrorists in a 30 year old example. (I was also concerned you were comparing British sailors to terrorists, whew).

I wonder who had (has) it worse?

Actually, the US hostiges said they were treated well. The women were released early as was someone who became very sick. The worst I've heard of was solitary confinement (and some corporal punisment for escape attempts).

To me it beats the hell out of being waterboarded, positionally asphyxiated, etc.
