That would be one like the iMac's keyboard. That is the new design. The older design was solid white and the keys looked like other keyboards' keys. If that made any sense, I'm not sure.

It's technically not possible.

But a program called Insomnia will do it if you really want it. I think I've heard mixed things about using it though.

after doing some research you have to have a external monitor connected along w/ a USB mouse/keyboard. which is annoying because I specifically bought a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard so i dont' have to disconnect them and reconnect them every time I take my macbook with me. also, i'd like to be able to take close the macbook so it can do the time machine backup at night.

Time Machine backs up every hour. If your computer is asleep during a scheduled backup, it backs up as soon as it wakes. Either way, you shouldn't notice at all. It's all in the background and quite quick unless it's the first, initial backup.

so i took back the off brand bluetooth mouse I bought and exchanged it for a Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse. This thing is so cool!! The best mouse I've ever used.

If it's anything like the wired mighty mouse, be prepared to get super frustrated at the scroll wheel not working and having to clean it a lot. It's my number 1 gripe. I like everything else about it.
