The Offspring

The last thread was 4 or 5 years old, I decided not to revive this time.

I have been wanting to check these guys out for quite a while now, so yesterday I went to buy an album. All I could find was their Greatest Hits CD, so I bought it.
I LOVE "Can't Repeat" and "Gone Away" a lot, I've been listening to "Can't Repeat" a lot.
I quite like a number of them, like "Self Esteem" "All I Want" and "The Kids Aren't Alright"
Those are definetly my favorites, so now I want to check out an album or two.
The Greatest Hits doesn't say which albums the songs are from, I was wondering where particularly "Can't Repeat" "Gone Away" "The Kids Aren't Alright" are from (which albums), and if those albums are good like those songs all the way through.

I really enjoy these guys, if you havn't checked them out and you like punk/pop/grunge or stuff similar, you should check them out.

"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor does He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Teh interweb is a wonderful tool for questions such as this. May I suggest wikipedia?

"Can't Repeat" - previously unreleased
"Gone Away" - Ixnay on the Hombre
"The Kids Aren't Alright" - Americana

Man, Americana brings back junior high back so strong for me.

Word. Americana is my official album of the 5th grade.

I knew a guy whose Dad used to own a record store in Sydney. One time they organised The Offspring to do a signing and he got into a fight with Dexter Holland because at the last minute, he decided he didn't want to do it anymore, even though hundreds of kids had shown up. Poor form, I thought.

"Smash" is my favorite Offspring album. But I would still never buy any of their stuff.

It seems cliche to say this, but yeah - Offspring lost it on Americana. There were a few solid songs on that album, but sense then their work has been dismal. "Smash" wasn't perfect, nor was "Ixnay," but the sense of originality was much stronger.

Smash was my official album of 5th grade. I remember the first thing my friend did was to take the lyrics from the jewel case and start counting the swear words.
