Beginner keyboard

I' m sure you all are tired people asking the same questions but I've played the guitar over 4 years and I am now wanting to learn the keyboard/piano. What is the best for about 300$ or less? Thanks.

I really don't know much about the lower end of the keyboard spectrum. It's pretty much a toss up between Casio and the Yamaha PSR series. I would suggest looking for a used Yamaha actually.... that way, you can get a slightly better model for your money.

Yamaha's site won't help you much.... the best place to find what kind of prices you'll pay for used gear is eBay. Check there first, even if that's not where you buy from... at least then you'll know if someone is trying to rip you off.

You might also want to check pawn shops, flea markets, classified ads, garage sales, etc.... you never know when you'll come across a gem of a deal.

SHOP USED! $250-$350 can get you a great* keyboard. I've seen some Korgs, Rolands, and Yamaha's at that price. If you want a new keyboard, I would also recomend a Yamaha, they seem to have lots more features for the amout you pay. The sounds are much, much, much better, and a few have velocity sensitive keys and full MIDI specs.

*As long as you don't care about looks, sounds from pre-1990, etc.

Some of my favorites are as follows:

Rachmaninoff - Piano Concertos #2 & 3, and the Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini

Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto #1

Chopin - Scherzos #1, 2, 3, Ballade #1, Etude #4

Beethoven - Piano Sonata #1, Piano Concerto #1 & 2

There are more, but I can't think of them right now.
