| (outside) The box A new day, a new dawn, a new year. The old life is over, done, forever. 2007 was the year of the Fire, with troubles every day. 2008 is the year of Freedom in my life, and I can't wait to see where God will take me. I hope this will be a place where I can express my real heart, not just every day day-to-day goings on. In my last blog, I was always afraid of my mom finding it, but now, I guess that's no long an issue. If she sees what I post here and doesn't like it, that's her problem, not mine.
Oh, yeah, the box. It represents the life that I don't have. See, everyone is always trying to put everyone into come kind of box, and I normally fit into none.
So, welcome to 2008, the year of Freedom!

| Hey Ruth! Man, it feels strange finally saying that on CGR. I've typed in several times, but always caught it just in time.
I take it the new year has been a good start for you....same here!
Can't wait for an update,
Christine |

| I am leaving tomorrow.
Tonight, they threw me a going-away party, and invited several church friends. There were a few families who didn't show up, but it was still awesome. They ended by all praying for me, and telling me that they're my family forever. I almost cried. I love these guys so much, not only Dez and her family, but everyone else at their church, particularly Kirk and Amy.
Now, I must pack and fly home.
And cry.
And be lonely without a family.
I have to fly home tomorrow, and face my mom on Friday. Sad indeed.
God has been good.
He will continue to do so.
But I still don't want to leave.
Signing off,
Ruth.
(PS, I'm going to go cry)
(PPS, I'm also thinking about moving up here.) |

| If any of you are on Facebook, check out my new pictures. If you're not, please add me. My sister and I got all punked-out last night, and it was a blast. |

And I'm glad you have found some "family"
What state are you thinking of moving to? |

| I'm thinking of moving to Mount Vernon, about 2 hours north of Seattle. I don't know if that's what God wants me to do, but I'm seriously praying about it. |

| I just finished up the debate tournament yesterday. For those of you who don't know the background, here it is:
I started Speech and Debate nearly 3 years ago (now, that's 2 years on the calender, but 3 when counting competing years), and hated it for the first year. The second year, I LOVED it, and my partner and I did fairly well for our first competing year.
Now there was no other homeschooled debaters in the whole state, and it was difficult to start our own club, but we managed anyway. Now, there's about 30 kids in Speech and Debate here. We had to travel to Colorado for all of our tournaments, due to the lack of competition here. So, i wanted to host a tournament here.
It was totally shot down, with certain moms saying that it would NEVER happen. But, as soon as I got kicked out of debate, I heard rumors that they were indeed going to have the tournament, and that MY MOM WAS THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR!!!
I almost didn't go, because I could neither compete nor judge, but I so badly wanted to see my Colorado friends who were going to be there. I had a few run-in.s with my mom and the other tournament leadership, and my sister wouldn't even acknowledge that I existed. Emotionally, I'm exhausted. Physically, I am too. A tournament takes everything out of you, and I think I only ate one meal in 2 days there.
I took 1400 pictures, and hung out with some amazing friends, so in the end, it was worth it. I was able to speak to my sister for about 30 seconds, and my mom for 5 minutes, and I'm very thankful for that. |

That's so touching...
About the box thing... I wrote a song called Idiot Box that dealt with the exact same thing, but I kinda messed that song up (it needed a lot more work ) Oh, well... I hope you have a really good year Katze!!! |

| The best of luck to you this year, Ruth.
To no boxes! For that reason I hate psychology (took it last semester). Everyone has to fit into some category in psychology, and it's never that simple. And it never should be.
A late happy new year! |
