ah...at 30+ ft the velocity is going to be a lot lower, especially with the heavier weight BBs.

We always used .12s because they were cheaper and everyone had them. I can't remember what sort of distances we would operate at. We would just go to one of the local parks at night and play for a couple hours at a time.

Where you get hit makes a huge difference. I always played in shorts and t-shirts or jeans and t-shirts so I could definitely feel anything on the forearms and hands.

Ah, warm California weather would make a difference in clothing choices. We play in a heavily wooded area, and it was around 40 degrees outside today. I was wearing camo pants, camo jacket, and a hoodie.

I really want to try some more urban settings. There are too many branches in those woods for the BBs to be deflected off of.

How would at 30+ ft the velocity be lower?!?
A shell is coming the fastest right out of the barrel.

There's 2 FT of snow where we live and play, it's fun in the winter.

I'm not sure what you're arguing. You make a comment as if it's silly to think the velocity is lower at 30+ ft then say that the velocity is fastest as it exits the barrel...

the way thesteve worded it made it sound as if thesteve was implying that the bb speeds up as it goes farther.
but as long as we both know what we mean...

And yes, I agree with you that I also think airsoft is more painful than paintball.

eh...I'm pretty sure it doesn't sound like that at all...especially given the content of Ryan's quote...

but whatever.

Has anyone of you ever played in an empty warehouse?

Yeah.. I don't see anything about your statement to suggest you were saying the opposite.

I'd love to try to play in an empty warehouse. Or an abandoned high rise.

I hear Detroit has a couple of those.
Not that that helps me at all.
But basically any big space indoors with rooms would be wicked sweet.

How many rounds does the clip hold? About 15?

25. They're double stacked.

I've just started getting into airsoft. My gun is a Daisy Air Strike 240 pistol. Although it doesn't shoot very far and isn't horribly accurate, I like it because the cartridge holds 88 BBs.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Ok, I guess I can jump into this. I have started playing with friends. 4 of us put some cash in & bought a handful of guns. A couple shotguns, a couple Automatic Uzzi's, and some Pistols. The combo of a Automatic with a magazine of 88, and a pistol with 300 fps is pretty lethal. The shotguns are nice & acurate. Unfortunately we can't afford any of the CO2 stuff, or the more expensive autos. Of course, when you stay with the slower speeds it doesn't hurt as much. Except when you peg someone in the neck in below freezing temps with a shotgun (oops ).

My favorite would have to be the shotgun. It's accuracy is awesome, and it can hold more than a pistol, especially if you have a handful of magazines
We played in the snow, which was awesome. Ski goggles and neck warmers cover pretty much all of your skin. We had massive snowbanks made from a plow, along with trees. It was an amazing setup.

I just played a game of airsoft yesturday..lots of fun. We were playing with some crazy guns, my friend has a 460 or 480 FPSsniper rifle with high density pellets...that can make you bleed. And I was shooting an electric AK-47, that can also go on automatic, although they wouldn't let me play with automatic on cause that just kills. I'm pretty sure the FPS on that was about 400. But I'm really getting tired of spring action, I'm probably gonna invest into an electric. Especially considering how fast spring action can wear out/break.
