| For one, does anybody have anything to say about the '72 Dolphins? 3 players with over 1,000 yards rushing? Its rare that any team has two nowadays.
And I thought this was supposed to be about current NFL players anyways... |

| And 20 mins lated the Pats win....
Looking at how they played the second half, I don't know if any other team in history could beat them. The second half score was 22-7, and that 7 was at the very, very end.

| I was just reading through this thread and there were several posts indicating that they didn't think these Pats were as good as advertised, yet here the season has ended, they are undefeated, they've set the record for most points, their QB set the record for TDs, and a receiver set the record for most TD receptions. Obviously, they still need to get through the post season and win the superbowl to be considered the greatest of all time, but I'm not sure that they aren't as good as advertised. What more do you want?
So as not to hi-jack the thread, I don't think there is a team that could be assembled to beat them right now. They've won pretty much every way at this point: dominance, sneaky stuff, luck, and come from behind. They've been able to withstand everything that's been thrown at them so far. |

| I also give props to the Patriots, but while doing so I want to acknowledge a great performance by the NY Giants. They had nothing to gain by winning the game last night...post season seeding was set, they risked injury but still put up a game worthy of the opponent, and these days in the NFL, that is sometimes quite rare!
Looking forward to the playoffs (as a Chiefs fan...that can be hard these days). ha.

The Patriots (if they win the last three) are the best team ever. Period. Who else has won every single game? The '72 Dolphins. How many games did they play in the regular season? 14. End of story.
I'm not saying they're unbeatable though....personally I think the best way to beat them would be by shutting down their passing game (easier said then done), then running it all day.

| They still have to win the Superbowl to be considered to be the best team.
The '72 Dolphins went 14-0 plus the playoffs and won the Superbowl.
The team that wins the Superbowl is the best.
Record isn't as important as all that.

| Let's look at who the Pats played this year: Miami twice (1-15) Jets twice (4-12), Buffalo twice (7-9), San Diego (11-5), Cincinati (7-9), Cleveland (10-6), Dallas (13-3), Washington (9-7), Indy (13-3), Philly (8-8), Baltimore (5-11), Pittsburg (10-6), Giants (10-6), giving an overall win-loss of opponents of 108-100. While this isn't the world's best way of looking at it, it does just go over .500. against 6 playoff teams. I'm still not convinced their the best team ever, and that's always a subjective debate. But they did beat those who were in front of them. Winning the Super Bowl will give them a very impressive 'dynasty'. |

| Haha did anybody see Mercury Morris (running back of the '72 Dolphins) on ESPN today? He went insane over the whole Pats could beat the Dolphins etc. etc. It was hysterical, I felt bad for that lady that was interviewing him. |

They were underdogs in the Super Bowl, even after their perfect regular season, and they won 14-7....

I don't know how true that is...anybody feel like looking it up? | It's also important to note that even though the '72 Dolphins finished the regular season 14-0, they didn't have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The playoff structure was on a rotational basis, and they had to go win on the road!
I still believe what the Patriots have done, in today's climate of free-agency, is just remarkable! |

| So they were underdogs?Big deal. They won 14-7?They won didnt they?I still think overall they are a better team than the Pats now.Better running (by far),could pass if they needed to,and a pretty good defense. The Pats are pretty much one dimensional on offense and theyre defense hasnt stopped many people.
