Guitars that you should love... but just don't.

Is there any guitar you find terribly overrated?

For me, I've despised every PRS I've even played. Literally, I've never understood the hype. I've found them to be muddy, inarticulate and uncomfortable.

I hate SGs.

I don't even think I should love them. I just think they're hideous, neck-heavy, and prone to breaking, especially the headstock and input jack.

Sorry SG lovers.

Every Telecaster I've ever played except for one.

I hate strats. I said it. I just do not like the sound or feel. I like teles, but I just do not like your typical SSS strat, and for HSS or HH I would prefer something else.

I would say for me it's Taylors, I really can't think of any other guitars besides some of the cheaper guitars like a couple of Squiers and such.

I'm with rainer, I have yet to play an SG I like. Maybe its the fact that my friend has a crappy low end one, but even the gibsons I've played were ugly and neck heavy.

I used to hate les pauls, but they've grown on me lately. Played an epi standard that I like the look of, but the poor upper fret access killed it for me. I don't know if I'll ever get an lp style guitar in the future.

A guitar I used to hate but now love is the tele. I though they were butt ugly when I first saw one, then I though, hey, its not THAT bad, could be and SG. I've been playing them for most of the time the last couple times I was in guitar center and its very likely my next guitar will be a tele.

I can't stand the look of the SG.
PRS guitars leave me numb. They look great yet seem unresponsive in my hands.
Ditto Schecters.
Taylor acoustics have always sounded 'plastic' to me.
Ovation acoustics I avoid like the plague.

No idea why everyone loves Taylors. Bright, tinny, look horrible, no bass, hate the necks...

Same with Ovation.

Don't especially prefer Strats (I feel as if everything is all jammed together, but the sound nice)..

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Is it perhaps the model of Taylor is putting some people off?

Sure, the low-end stuff is rough, but another leader at my church plays a 610... that's not exactly a low-end model, and it sounds sublime.
