I forgot. Superstrats (refering to Soloists and pretty much anything made by Jackson). I just hate them. They should never have been given that name, as they are not super-anything...except maybe super-crappy.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Strats - Love the sound, but I hate the body dimensions. And the ones I played whose bodies I could tolerate had uncomfortable necks.
Nearly all B. C. Rich's - perhaps not guitars I should love, but HIDEOUSLY ugly. I played on a Warlock once and it wasn't bad, but I thought I'd kill myself on the sharp points.
Gold plated hardware - for all the reasons mentioned before.

rainer, is it the rounded edges or the round body shape that annoys you with carvins?

because personally i think rounded edges is the stupidest thing they do. they're hideous, and somehow make their stuff look less like a guitar and more like a slab of wood.

and i'm kinda with thesteve on fancy tops as well. to me, the best looking quilted tops end up being ones with bursts, (not talking abour dragonburst here...) and that's kinda pointless on a pricey peice of wood like that. flame is different.

a nice (IMO) quilted top:

but why spend so much on wood you're going to cover up? with flame i could justify that, not with quilted.

i won't even start on flamed koa. if one were to want the glitziest axe...

I don't think I'm a good enough guitarist to start hating a guitar. Almost all y'all have named I like a pretty good bit.......

Ibanez wizard necks. Urgh. I don't have the hands for it and I don't play that kind of music.

Godin guitars. Just don't like them. Bodies feel a little off and I don't like any of the pu arrangements on the models i've played.

I'm with thesteve on the Gibson acoustics as well.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. The only thing I differ with you in is the Explorer and reverse Firebird. I sort of dig them both but for everything else it's as if you were reading my mind.

I think it's cool, in a very ugly way. Not saying I'd get one.
I like most quilted/curly tops too.

indeed..."that EVH guitar" is pretty non-specific considering he's had signature models with Fender/Charvel, Peavey, Ernie Ball and probably others.
