Singing help

I'm trying to check out singing and sometimes I try warm-ups that I used to use from Chorus in school. I'm trying to aim to sing like Chris Cornell, Gerard Way, Chino Mireno, etc. Any website or suggestions that can help?

Do they sing higher or lower stuff? Doing 5 tone scales helps with increasing your range.

Probably smoke 6 packs of cigarettes a day for a year.

No joke.

Could I have an example of the 5 tone scales?

I know that Moreno and Way are or were chain smokers but I'm not sure about Cornell, other than the fact that he was on drugs when he was with soundgarden... and kid, you need to find your own style and not try to imitate three singers (especially with such different vocal styles)... seriously, even if you are going to imitate you can't sound like three different singers all of such different styles...

Should I try to mix their style vocal with my own?

You should find your own vocal style. Each of us have influences, but our own unique style. No one, myself included, wants to hear you sounding like a rip-off version of a famous guy. I'd rather hear YOU.

This might sound like I'm giving opposite advise from everyone else, but I'm really not....anyway...

If I were you, I would find 15 or 20 songs of different styles and try singing all of them. Record yourself trying to sing all of them. Then go back and listen to it and decide which ones sound good and which ones sound awful and which ones you were completely and utterly unable to sing. Then look at the vocal range of each of the songs and figure out which range you sound good in.

Once you've done that you should have a much better idea what your voice can and can't do. The purpose of this isn't to tell you which singer you should copy. The purpose is to discover what your voice can and can't do. Once you know your strengths, weaknesses, and limits your in a really good place to develop your personal style.

I'd like to become a better singer, but I don't want to give myself the risk of cancer trying to sing.

He wasn't serious that you should actually smoke...simply stating that you could have to do to to achieve the vocal quality (?) of those particular leads.

Have you considered getting forma training or joining a choir again?

That's what I've been trying to say. I just want to know how to make my own style of singing.

Study your voice and limitations.
