| Psychology - Night Terrors Hey,
I am writing my term paper in Psychology on Night Terrors. If anyone knows a lot about psyc. or night terrors, please tell me what you know. I'm having some major problems finding reliable information. I can't use anything from a .com site, and most of the University research and psychology sites that I have looked at only have course outlines. My paper is due in a week, and I've failed to find enough information in the past few weeks, and it is too late for me to change my topic. So, if you know anything, or know someone who knows a lot of psychology/sleep studdies/ night terrors, please let me know. Thanks!
Regards,
Sam

| Your university's library should have periodicals / research journals available to you and, hopefully, some method for searching through articles published in them. You should be able to find at least a dozen such articles with no trouble at all. You might also have access through your library or school website to online research databases, which often provide full-text versions of these same scholarly articles. My advice would be to go to your library and ask for help; that's what they get paid for and what you've already paid for through your various fees. This type of research (i.e. from academically reliable sources) will be helpful to you in your future classes so it's good to learn how to do it now.

| I agree with Nate. It would look pretty strange to list "Some lady I talked to on this message board I frequent who says she has a masters in psychology" in your bibliography. I think you can find some great information at the library - night terrors have been studied for many, many years. |

| Thanks! I never knew the Library did that or had those kinds of resources. It was a lot of help.

| ... and the quest to eliminate Wikipedia from scholarly "citations" moves one step further.
I wonder why colleges don't all do like Loyola and have library reps come to class and discuss research techniques.

| At my university it was part of the first week orientation. If you didn't make those sessions, one of the first labs in a requisite course for all students was devoted to the Library. |

| I suppose it also doesn't hurt that we have the 6th-ranked college library in the country, which includes very helpful library staff.

| Yeah, several of my freshman courses included workshops on how to use the library system. I wish I'd made more use of it during my time here, it's a tremendous resource.

| I think there was a blurb on them in the most recently published Parents magazine, but that's not going to be as authoritative as a psych journal. From what I remember, the article basically cautioned the parents of 2-3 year olds that they were considered normal. It also contrasted night terrors with nightmares, and suggested how you could help your kids deal with either.
