Willis & Cabrera for Miller & Maybin

Yesturday the Detroit Tigers future stars Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin, along with 3 other minor league pitchers and catcher Mike Rabelo for Florida Marlin's Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera.

Being a Tiger fan I have to say its quite dissapointing to see Miller and Maybin gone, both who are expected to be outstanding players one day, yet I'm fulfilled with the excitement of having Cabrera and Willis in Detroit. I can only see it as another smart move by David Dombrowski, who traded top prospect Umberto Sanchez for Gary Sheffield last winter (Early in the year Sanchez had to have season-ending surgery), so that turned out to be a great aquisition.
So this results in:

Curtis Granderson CF
Placido Polanco 2B
Gary Sheffield DH
Magglio Ordonez RF
Miguel Cabrera 3B
Edgar Renteria SS
Ivan Rodriguez C
Carlos Guillen 1B
Marcus Thames/ Ryan Raburn/ Jaque Jones/ Brandon Inge etc.

Talk about deadly lineup.

Any thoughts?

Well, as a Tiger fan, I'm sad to see especially Maybin go. I was never really that impressed with Miller, but I'm sure he'll be amazing when he gets some time under his belt. This gives us another great pitcher, and a deadly line-up.

If Cabrera takes the 3B spot away from Inge I'll be sad. I loved watching him play D'. Although Cabrera would be a massive improvement in the hitting department. This year should be fun.

I hope for the Tigers sake that Willis recovers form in 2008. He was ok in 2006 and below average in 2007. I think switching to the AL might be good for him (new hitters to face), but I'd definitely hesitate to call him a great pitcher.

According to Yahoo, Cabrera might play in Left Field instead of Marcus Thames. That would leave Inge at 3rd.

I thought about this when i looked at the lineup (see above) but quickly dismissed it.I cant picture Cabrera in the outfield but who knows.

He used to play outfield...maybe the Tigers think they can get him back into shape and put him out there.

Well as far as I'm concerned Thames isn't going to start anyways.
And from what I hear, Inge will probably be going, which yes, is quite a dissapointment.
It will be interesting when Pudge is considered the worst hitter in the lineup....
