Dashboard Confessional

Has anyone here heard of Dashboard Confessional? He's a singer/songwriter, and he's amazing! I'd recommend downloading some songs if you can. Anyone who has heard of him, what do you think?

wow, you posted this a long time ago... he is wicked cool! I first heard him through my non-christian friends who play it constantly, then I found out he used to pe part of a group that used to be christian and I was like cool! his songs are cool, but they are all about him and a girl friend who cheated on him it seems. kinda makes me feel bad! but hey I guess he got soem good material out of it right!

Yeah, Chris Carrabba rules! The band he was in is called Further Seems Forever, and I'm pretty sure they're still Christian. Check out their cd "The Moon Is Down", it sounds kinda like dashboard would with electric guitars and such, and as far as I know that's the only cd that Chris did vocals for, but check it out!

Sorry guys.....

Dashboard Confessional or Further Seems Forever aren't Christian

We had a discussion on this earlier, and decided they are not. Chris Carrabba (the brains behind it all) is a strong Christian but I have yet to find a Christian meaning in most of his songs. Talking about him "getting some" from a girl does not sound to Christian to me.

I love both of the bands, don't get me wrong. I just do not think they are Christian bands, although they are amazing.

I don't know about Dashboard having a christian messege or not, but Further Seems Forever does.

I started listening to them a couple of months ago and now I can't get enough of them! Chris has some great song writing skills, but I'm just amazed by his gut-wrenching vocals! "This Bitter Pill" has some incredible passion behind it! It almost hurts to listen to! He's so real and legit in the stuff he's singing about.

Chris is a born again Christian, but his songs are not "Christian" songs. He doesn't swear or anything though, so I'd say they're wholesome songs. The band Further... was/is a Christian band. Dashboard isn't. But they're still awesome! I'm just praying that record companies and MTV don't get their hooks into the band and start messing with their sound and stuff.

i first heard Dashboard Confessional about a week ago... i was quite impressed with how he can take just an acoustic guitar and make great music.... the music world needs more people like him and the best thing... it's clean! i hate people who think they have to use the f word every other word to make a song

I'd just like to state for the record that Dashboard Confessional rules.

Yeah they're going to get more popular, but I'm just hoping that record companies don't start getting their hooks into things. Companies could start pushing them into things. I'd love to see Chris stick to the simple acoustic guitar with limited backups and sing his heart out like always. I just don't want them turning into an "MTV band".

"get some"

Yeah that song on the EP about "getting some" bothered me too. I have his first 2 other cd's and there is nothing really bad on them. I mean there are parts like " I'm missing your bed" and stuff, some stuff that isn't too Christian, but for a non-christian band or whatever it's not bad, and I LOVE Dashboard, but they tend to bother me alittle. I love the concerts though b/c everyone sings at the top of their lungs and it just sounds amazing! They are geting really poplular now, and I think thats good. maybe instead of going the MTV way he will put more Christian stuff in his songs... who knows

It really bothers me to hear people say that Further Seems Forever isn't a Christian band. I mean, they don't sit there and say "We're a Christians band" or anything. Instead they acknowledge that they're Christians and everything they do is for Christ. Wouldn't that include music?
I've been listening to Further Seems Forever for a while now. Their new singer is incredible. "The Moon Is Down" is the only Further album that Chris sings on...in fact, it's their only full-length album. They have a split with Recess Theory and they're on Emo Diaries Volume 3 (I think it's 3). Hopefully they'll be recording with Jason Gleason (their new singer) really soon. He's amazing.
As for Dashboard...amazing music. Chris isn't the greatest guitarist in the world, but he writes great songs. His lyrics are intelligent (usually) and his voice is incredible. I've heard many places that he's a Christian, but his lyrics don't really reflect. That's not any of my business, though. Has any heard about what happened with him, Drive-Thru Records, Vagrant Records? If not, let me know, and I shall pass my knowledge along.
