Demon Hunter's "Storm the Gates of Hell" realeases today

the day has finally come, I ordered a Deluxe Edition of the CD yesterday, hopefully it arrives soon. If the album is anything like their PV song, "Fading Away" then it should be really good.

"Fading Away" is actually probably one of the weakest tracks on there - but it's still a good song.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal".

from what Ive gotten to hear from the album so far, havent heard about 4 tracks, "Fading Away" is easily in the top 2-3 IMHO, he doesnt override his newfound "screaming" or grunting (which I dont like in comparison to his screaming in [The Triptych]), and its got the best guitar parts out of the whole album.

just my .02 cents

The only different screaming I remember from the whole CD was on "Sixteen", and that was a guest vocalist.

No.
The only really interesting guitar riff in the whole song is the lick in the bridge. There are certainly better.

I don't want to listen to the album until I get it in the mail.

his screaming is definetly different, he's lost some depth to it, and its got a different ring, its easily evident in almost every song from their new album.

Follow the Wolves and Sixteen and good guitar parts too, and so does Fading Away, I just wasnt really loving the guitar in this album like i did in "The Triptych" (especially in "Undying")

I still don't hear what you mean at all. Ryan's screams have sounded very much the same since SOD.

Ryan Clarks vocals are much different now than they were on SOD.

Wear and tear has taken a toll on his voice, you can hear it in the effort he puts behind his screams and growls (the dude has been doing HC vocals for over 10 years).

Anyways...

I got the album in the mail yesterday. I listened to it on the way to work this morning, on the way to lunch, on the way back to work, on the way up to my church, and Ill listen to it some more on the way home.

I have enjoyed every track so far. This album is what I have come to expect from DH. I like this part of demon hunter. As much as they say they are changing their sound, I always pick up the new album and it sounds really familiar (though, if one were to really go deep into study of the bands history, you would see that SOD stands out as a completely different work than the other 3 records, as it includes many elements that the band had not used before, nor since).

Demon Hunter has always been, and probably will always be one of my favorite hardcore bands. This album is simply another good record that I have to listen to.

They won't be one of your fav. hardcore bands forever. By the next album it'll be so watered down that there will be no screaming whatsoever and the heavy guitars will be put in the closet in favor of acoustics.

Hope this doesn't happen but it very well could. Solid State bands often don't go heavier, they go lighter and lighter.

Who are you to say that they won't be one of his favorite hardcore bands forever?

I'm saying they won't be hardcore lol. It'll be pop rock. Who knows, maybe his favorite pop rock band. . .

Underoath went quite a big lighter, Haste The Day started singing too much, BTA . . .

And Showbread.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Even though the last two albums are only a little bit softer than the two before them. (and only because of one or two more ballads.)
Seriously - I don't see how on earth DH could completely abandon their style, especially when they're experiencing a fair amount of success for a Christian band.
The only time I see no screaming is if Ryan decided to some sort of side project.

Well I'm not exactly sure how successful they are, Norma Jean and Underoath are extremely successful (Underoath is what Gold for 500,000 albums?), I wonder how well DH is really doing.

uh, wtc? Underoath went way heavier on their most recent cd. You just proved that it's pointless to listen to your opinion.
