EDIT: Powerhouse might be too strong of a word but they are a great team. I rank them 4th in the AFC behind the Pats, Colts, and Steelers. | You're right...powerhouse is way too strong a word. I'd take the Pats, Colts, Steelers, Titans, Chargers and maybe even the Bengals before Jacksonville. Also, Buffalo is up there too.
In the NFC, the Saints have to deal with Dallas, NYG, Washington, and a surging NFC North (Green Bay, Detroit and Minnesota). I agree they should overtake the Bucs and the Panthers for the division...but they've been streaky. |

It's interesting you put Buffalo up there....I haven't gotten to see them this season, but Lynch looks pretty good.
Yeah, the NFC may have more parity this year than the AFC, since it's so up in the air.....

The Chargers are not the same team as last year. LT's not the same back, Philip Rivers is not playing well, and their defense should not have been that easy to penetrate even though Adrian Peterson is awesome. The Titans have the potential, but Vince's touchdown to interception ratio is 3/8. His QB rating is only 61.5 on the season and their RBs have been okay, but not amazing. The Jags are winning even without MJD playing great (although that really kills a fantasy team), with their backup QB who most people had never heard of until this season. I admit, if Garrard was playing, the Saints game would've been closer. However, once MJD turns it on, and Garrard comes back (this week I think), the Jags will be the 4th ranked team in the AFC.

| The big problem with the Chargers so far this season is you never know which team is going to show up on Sunday. They've had moments of awesomeness this season...unfortunately they only happen in spurts, unlike last season where they kept it going the whole way.
It's almost like there's a serious lack of cohesiveness with the team this season. |

The Pats run defense is much more solid.
The Titans have been winning with defense and just enough offense, especially late.....which is what they did during their late season run last year..... Quote:

It's almost like there's a serious lack of cohesiveness with the team this season. | I agree with what you're saying, I just think they'll right the ship easily in that division, at least enough to make the playoffs.....I mean, it's not like Oakland or Denver are really going to take over....

They've got to play four strong teams (Colts, Jags, Titans, Lions) in their final eight...and I don't think 8-8 wins the AFC West. I expect the winning team to be 10-6, though at this point anything can happen. All the teams are definitely playing very mediocre. |

The one year they didn't make it, their coach was Norv Turner.
For the poll up there, I'm a little surprised that AP got as many votes as the Pats.

Though really I don't think it's entirely because of Norv, nor do I think the Chargers success was entirely because of Marty. The Chargers had a complete staff turnover between last year and this year. Cam Cameron is now in Miami and failing miserably while Wade Phillips is in Dallas and having tons of success. If there's a disconnect, I think it's less to do with Norv vs. Marty and more ot do with other coaching staff changes that happened before Marty was fired. |

| I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Miami wins 8 straight, gets the wildcard, and wins the whole shabang.
