question for holy hip hoppers

I don't want to debate whether you think christian hip hop is sinful or biblical, i am asking this question for holy hip hoppers that already feel that it is.

have any of you heard the song "order my steps" by bone thugs and harmony, it's actually an awesome song, with no cursing, no blasphemy, no reference to drugs or degrading women, its very scriptural and even features gospel singer yolanda adams.

my question is, i feel conflicted about listening and enjoying it since bone thugs and harmony do not display the fruits of being "true" followers of Jesus Christ, they continue to openly live in sin, curse, smoke marijuana, drink to the point of drunkeness, adultery, lust, etc etc, now i know I cannot judge their salvation and that's not what i'm trying to do, but i want to know your opinions of a song like this, that is hip hop, that is biblical, and overall to the standards of most biblical hip hoppers (i.e. cross movement, da truth, flame, 116 clique) but is performed by basically heathenistic so called "christians"

should i not listen to this song any further? do you think its wrong that i enjoy it? should i not listen to it simply for the fact that i feel convicted? or am i denying myself a freedom I have in Christ? please share your thoughts and be candid but respectful please.

thanks

I think if you have a problem with it then you should not listen to it. It would not personally bother me though.

Yes, but I'd question if your conviction is coming from God.

I believe you are.

You said yourself that the song itself is clean and not a stumbling block for you. Unless you literally can't hear it without dwelling on the things you said the group does, I don't see how it would be a problem. So if it's a matter of personal conviction that you're confident is from God, then heed your conviction and don't listen to the song. If it's just a matter of principle as to whether or not enjoying the work of sinners is wrong...well, just take a look at that sentence. We're all sinners. If you can enjoy the product of a sinner without being led into sin yourself, I say there's nothing wrong there.

And just as an afterthought, ever listen to Mozart? He led a life just as bad (if not much, much worse) as the life you claim these guys do.
