| Okay, a more detailed review.
This is one of the best heavy cds to come out this year, easily. It's one of my favorite cds of this chaotic style....going this way and that, not overpolished, but still well recorded. The vocals are excellent. The guitarwork makes my eyes cross. The drumbeat on the intro to Charlatan's Host is a pain in the nervous system, and to be fair, when I paid attention to it, the bass sounded cool to. Especially on a certain transition...
Part of me wants to give this a 9 because 5 of the 11 songs were on an e.p. already, but it's too good. Better even, in my opinion, than The Chariot's "Fiancee" (I doubt many of you will like Micah more than Josh, though). Though let me be very clear in saying that they are two totally different cds...that's just the closest one I could think of right now (that came out this year).
This band actually has a sound quite their own, to me. I've heard similar sounding bands before, but nothing quite like this. They're a medley of many influences. And together they form a gloriously brutal symphony...So let us welcome to the top tier of heavy christian artists....Oh, Sleeper. |

| So I bought this. Its half screamo, and the other half who-knows-what. I liked the first song, but not a whole lot of the others. But its not terrible. At least a 4.

| I give it an 8. It kind of reminds me of As Cities Burn's first album. |

Average metalcore/screamo

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal". |

| I finally got this, thought I have only got to listen to the first 3 songs, and it might be a little while before i actually give it a thorough listen.
But, by the first 2 songs, I thought it was awesome! I love it.

Exactly.
I am floored by this album everytime I listen to it. Charlatans Host, The Siren Song, Vices like Vipers... You just dont get better than that.
Great music, from an obviously talented group of musicians. I more than look forward to a second full length.

| I've been listening to this a lot today, I can't put it down.
Its gets a 9, excellent, excellent album.
Highly recomend it to fans of August Burns Red, Chiodos, Underoath (I don't know why, but thats who I think of when I listen to them).
Beautiful stuff on this album.

Reason: Just so we're clear, I know that "eeent" sounds are called discords.

| I would have given it 10 (and probably should have done) but for the same reason as Mr. Claw.
Definitely my favourite band, lyrically it is so incredibly uplifting without being obvious or cheesy. I'm still hearing the odd line which just jumps out at me and absolutely floors me. Musically, although it generally follows a tried and tested format, it is actually very original in many respects and manages to avoid sounding cliched at any point.
I would pay a lot of money to see this band play in England
P.S As I'm here, and some of you may be guitarists, can I direct you to this thread - http://www.christianguitar.org/forum...08#post3109808 Kthanx |

At least a 4. | I wouldn't call it screamo, man...screamo, from what I've experienced, usually means there's mostly singing with background screaming/some screaming breakdowns. Their style is really just....metal....with some core.....and some chaos. They just happen to keep the vocals in a higher pitched range most of the time, compared to...other bands. Quote:

In other news, I really can't stop listening to His Name Was Bishop. It shot from being 90th to 8th on my top 100 list on my mp3 player in a few days. I like the outro... |
