I think we should be more like we were pre-WWII, only get involved when it directly affects us. (that's true for the most part anyways)... In all honesty, I wish we were more like the Swiss, neutral in every way.

He also warned us against forming political parties... sometimes ideas lose their practicality.

Hey, I'm all for no political parties. Those screw up elections. Officials should be elected based on merit, not political affiliation.

And his concern about alliances is indeed valid. Remember how quick WWI started, because of their alliances?

Political parties are tearing our nation apart. They're ridiculous and don't mean anything. They should be abolished and banned, IMO.

Although that create chaos in the system. We wouldn't really know what to vote for, or that the electoral college would still work. It could lead to great voter apathy. I come from a city that just had a municipal election with 27% voter turnout. This is because all the candidates sucked, and no one knew who any of them were anyway.

Wrong, because then people would be forced to look at the issues rather than 'this party is generally for this'. You know, GW was elected as our first President. He didn't belong to a political party. The electoral college voted him. People believed in George Washington. I think if a candidate actually ran on his stance, rather than party, then people would have more faith in the government.

Romans 10:2-4

2I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.[a]

Romans 9:30-33

30What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness[d] did not succeed in reaching that law. 32Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
