To people that are currently in band season/drumline

I know band is almost over, but How is your line doing? Yall have a sweet book this year?

Goshen's band (the band i'm in) Is currently un-defeated which for being our first year in B in a long time, is pretty sweet. Our percussion/drumline has also gotten first at every competition which is pretty sweet, .

How about you?

My band season got over a few weeks ago. It did not go good. Me and the other snare drummer are the only vets that are on the line. Despite me and him playing bass drums the last couple years, we make a decent snare line. But everybody else just can't do it.

Nobody on the line understands what it takes to be a good drumline. There is so much arguing going on about who is better, when the two people who are fighting are both equally terrible. Nobody listens.

My section leader quit because they were so bad. Because of this, the other snare player declared himself section leader even though I am alot better than him, more motivated, and a better leader. I'm not going to argue with him about it though because it wouldn't get us anywhere.

Ugh. I hate my drumline. I just wish everybody would get their acts together and make drumline an important part of their highschool career like I have. I'm thinking about getting a transfer to another school with a more focused drumline..for that reason alone..haha

I did drumline to possibly learn some stuff on percussion. I was stuck on bass drum for marching with a band who couldn't care less about anything and a drumline that couldn't keep a straight quarternote beat if their life depended on it. It was pretty much chaos. After marching season the band teacher went into his office and shut the door the entire period and everyone just screwed around. I went in a practice room with a grand piano and played on that all hour. It was pretty much the cheapest thing ever. But it was a good 4th hour rest period after calc and before work. I probably should have used that period to do homework, but after math I didn't feel like doing anything.

I'm totally taking jazz band instead next year...
