Are you holding them by the end? I used to hold them right in the middle and it was really uncomfortable, but my drum teacher corrected me.

according to the ProMark website "Like a 5A, but longer with a thicker taper and larger tip. Versatile. Use in quiet applications or when more volume is required."

it's 16.25" long and .551" thick.

the 5A is 16" long.

They are a little front heavy for my taste. I like to grip the stick just slightly behind the center of gravity, with those it was so far forward it really defeated the purpose of having a 16 1/4 long stick.

well...is there something that is the same size as far as thickness and length but a little lighter or more equally center of gravity than the 747?

I am sure there is. The best thing to do is just go to a drum shop and try out alot of models of stick. Everyone has a different preference.

Marching snare sticks for the win. My line use to use ScoJos (Scott Johnsons..Vic Firth) until our line instructor left and we got a new one. Now we use Pro Mark Matt Savage's.
