Lojban

This constructed language is very interesting to me. I just heard about it. It's based entirely on predicate logic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lojban

Does anyone have any knowledge of this language? Or any opinions after reading the article? I would like to learn it just because it's logical. It seems very interesting.

You and your constructed languages. Lojban sounds like CGR slang, combining lol and ban with a typo.

A language that no one else you will ever encounter in your life will be able to speak hardly seems logical.

Sounds like "logjam' to me... which is probably an apt description of most constructed languages.

You must not be either a linguist or a Tolkien fan.

Anyway, I was referring to the fact that the construction of the language is logical. Not whether or not learning it would be logical. Some people, believe it or not, like to learn languages for fun. lol.

And I still say you should learn Esperanto.

I think Esperanto is more popular in Europe and Germany, man. I've seen lots of videos on youtube of Germans speaking Esperanto. I'll post some of them if you like.

I've heard of it, but it's not a complete language is it? It's like Klingon. Klingon is like a half-language.

Actually Daniel I just did a Youtube search for Lojban and there was only one result and it was of some guy in Hamburg, Germany talking about how to pronounce Lojban words. Conlangs must be more popular in Germany, cause I've seen a lot of them speaking Esperanto and now the only Lojban video I can find is of a German guy!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "half-language." Anyway, I don't think I'd know either way. I do know that Lily Allen re-recorded one of her songs entirely in simlish. Perhaps that's possible with a half-language though.

I just mean it doesn't have enough vocabulary to be used as a complete language. Like Klingon or J.R.R. Tolkien's Quenya. (Quenya used to be a full language when he was alive because he could speak it fluently, but he never wrote enough of it down so it died with him, now we only know some of it).

I'll try to look up her simlish song. That's interesting.
