I'm really happy with Rudd's win in the House of Reps. I'm really disappointed with what looks like will be the results in the Senate; the Democrats losing all 4 of their seats leaving only the two major parties, the Greens and Family First in the senate. According to ABC, Liberal probably will still hold the majority in Senate, which is more healthy than a major party holding the majority in both houses. Still, the thought of only the two major parties and a left and a right wing party in the Senate creeps me out.

Plus I'm just really sad to see Andrew Bartlett go. I seriously hope he runs next election.

What candidates got elected in everyone's area? I live in a pretty Liberal-heavy area on the Gold Coast and the Liberal MP here pwned the Labor one. It was even more intense the next electorate over. I think it probably has a lot to do with both MPs being very hard-working people and I'd say most people trust them.

In other news, I'm hearing that Costello might not become leader of the Liberals.

Brendan Nelson is the new leader of the Liberals. To be honest, I don't really know anything about the guy. His name isn't as cool as Malcolm Turnbull though.

Rudd's selection of ministers is...interesting. Gillard for Education AND Workplace Relations...seems like a bit of a full plate to me. I don't doubt her abilities, but I dunno, I'm kinda thinking they could have done better for an Education minister. Peter Garrett being Arts was a good idea though.
