Ditto... Plan on spending money on your boots. I've been boarding for 4 years now, had my own gear for going on 2 years. Made a HUGEE mistake of buying cheap boots. They were no more than $50. And they became extremly uncomfortable and now have about zero padding left in them. So I'm investing in new ones this year. So deffinatly put some money into your boots!

One thing. Go to the store. And get one of the people to help you with boot sizing/ board sizing / bindings. The place I go to, 'Scheel's' has people that actually are good at finding the perfect fit for you, snowboarding/skiing talking. Also, make sure you are very satisfied with the fit/comfortableness of your boots. If they seem uncomfortable in the store, say something then not later. You'll get what feels right eventually!
Right now, I have a Head board, not my favorite, and not the best I've ridden, but it's nice for me becuase of the sharp edges help me carve. My favorite thing to do!
My gear all together is:
Head 51 board
51-50 boots (big mistake of boots)
51-50 bindings (I guess they're alright. All I could afford atm)
GOOD LUCK buying your gear!!
