| An amazing promise come true!! (one that includes a guitar) OK! Some people might think this is crazy. Ok, when I was an infant, some preacher had profisied that I would be a muscian. Well over the years I didn't really think about music until I was 13. I'm 16 now and God promised me that I would reach people majorly through music. God has truly blessed me with a talent.
Well that's just a background, but this next story is interesting. I've been using all my time writing songs hoping that I'll get good enough to make my own album . Well I had played for my church before but only in a band that was playing on certain days. Everyone now was wanting me to play with the church choir (because I'm the only one who can pick up the notes that their singing and play it). The songs they sing are old bluegrass stuff and I play christian rock!! One day my parents told me to just play with them anyway, that I would be sowing seed and that I would reap it back. What ever I needed or wanted to get into the music business, got would give because I was giving my time.
I decided to do it. But I told God "Every time I go and play, I'll get at least one guitar (or any multiple of, I'm not going to restrict God's blessings), and for every time I play a song there, equals another extra really good song that I'll write". That was this Sunday (9/2/07). Two days later my grandma gave me a 60 year old guitar that she had bought from a Sears/robuck catalog when she was in high-school. This guitar is an old acoustic with the f-shape holes, Sunburst paint, and arched top. It's not the best quality wood but it's a beautiful guitar and it has more volume than my old Fender that my Aunt had before she died. (there's another story in that too, I'll save it for another thread)
The other part of the promise was taken care of Yesterday I just wrote a song called "Shake the World" and God told me that it was one of those songs. And I'm starting to play there regularly now. God told me that all I had to do was just believe and he would take care of my needs and wants all it depended on was just faith and obedience. Our blessings only depend on our faith!! God wants to bless us, we just gotta believe whole heartedly that he will!!
The only thing is... God let the next one be an electric (preferably a blue Les Paul )!! (just kidding) |

| Alright, more irony!! My band name was called LC7 because a picture that I took of my brother juggling torches in a weird pattern. (my avatar is one I messed with in photoshop)
the kind of guitar mine looks like is an original Gibson LC7 (though it's not one, it's a cheap brand but it's still 60 years old). |

Ummm, what? You TOLD GOD that He would give you a guitar every time you played for these people? And you TOLD GOD that He would grant you a good song every time you played a song?
I may have missed a LOT, but I wouldn't count on this. God doesn't work this way. We don't do something for God and then tell him what we want in return. Peter preached for God and Pete got crucified upside down...he didn't get new fishing nets.
Don't bargain with God. I'd hate for you to turn away from God if you play there again and don't wind up with another guitar.

-shane | I asked him, claimed it in faith, ask and ye shall receive, IS IT RINGING A BELL?!?
I should've rephrased it. |

| Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God. How is asking for a new guitar everytime you play seeking the Kingdom of God? This is a gross misreading of that Scripture.
Historically Christians have suffered and died miserable deaths for their faith. Don't you think they would have 'named and claimed' something better if this was how Christianity was supposed to work?

-shane | I'm not really I would care if I got one or not, first of all I'm doin is helping at the church. And Actually I've already been given three so I kinda just giving back what I owe, god's just blessing me for doin what he said. Probably I won't get most of them right after it like I did then. But God likes to bless us we just gotta ask. People's lack of faith is what restricts them. I'm not demanding it from God, I'm just asking him |

I use music to minister to people and guitars are my main tool for ministering. Peter never used fishing nets to minister to people. So really I'm giving back in all the time. The main reason I'm doin this is to reach people, not to get guitars. |

I think it's kind of odd that you are asking to be reimbursed for your service to your Church and God. Quote: |

| Just because you ask God for something does not mean he is obligated to give it, or that he will. Even if you are seeking His will and asking for something that will help you better serve God, this does not mean God needs to do anything for you.
"God likes to bless us we just gotta ask". That's a whole other theological debate.

| Yeah, I have found, most times the answer is "No"...
Guess it all has to do with our lack of understanding the mind of God..."For now we see through a glass darkly..." |

| I have closed this thread, because it is completely theological in nature, but I am not going to send this to theology, because I think it would be disrespectful to the thread starter's original intent.
That said, please feel free to carry on with this conversation in Theology. |
