books books books! Join a good solid bible study/christian group when you get to college.

Hi I hope all is going well for you. I presume everything worked out with your mom (since you're still posting on CGR)?
I'm trying to start a Bible Study in my High School. But, thanks for the suggestion. I'm also reading plenty of books. I'm currently reading "The Upside Down Church" by Greg Laurie and "Bait of Satan" by John Bevere.

I find Christian televised teachers to be largely heretical. I find listening to sermons and stuff to be more harmful to my spiritual life than anything else.

If I may be so bold as to suggest an actual good website for learning the Christian faith I would suggest looking into www.ccel.org and looking up the writings of some of the great Christians of the past.
I'll check out the link when I have time. I wouldn't say that every preacher that appears on TV is heretical. Billy Graham and Greg Laurie aren't heretics.

You mean deep into world televangelism or what I was just posting just earlier?

nothing of either sort. Billy Graham is an evangelist. He is fine for what he is, but he does not go very deep in helping one form a good theological framework. Greg Laurie does not really go very far in that regard either. However, if you want discernment to where stupid articles will not shake you in the least, you are going to need to go deeper than pop teaching and preaching.

What a day. I still have a sore throat that has been bothering me since Sunday or Monday. It's still another day of school. It's very hard to believe that today is Wednesday.

I was watching a Creflo Dollar sermon(because my mom wanted me to) last night. The message was pretty okay. But, the only thing that I felt that was left out, was more reasons why the body of Christ is divided. You see, the message was on "Growing up Spiritually," and in the middle of the message, Creflo Dollar talks about why the body of Christ is divided and isn't maturing. It's because we keep accusing each other. Well, that's partially true, but he's missing the extra reasons. Consider Hank Hanegraaff and his great book "Christianity In Crisis." When the book was released, it wasn't to divide the body of Christ, but to warn the Body of Christ of this cultic WOF theology that has infiltrated Evangelical Christianity, especially in the US. The reason why I bring it up because my mom doesn't like the idea of the book. "Good Idea, Mom. You're fufilling the last days as forcasted in 2 Timothy 4:3-4."

Well, nothing else is new today. I'm still trying to find some more people for that Christian Rock band. The dude, Nikko that I met would like to become lead guitarist and lead singer. That's a good idea.

Also, when I found another "Christian Rock is sinful and sexual" article, I didn't post it here. I quickly X'd out of it and went to equip.org and looked over that article on Rock Music and it concluded that the music was amoral. Then I read my Bible on music. Thank God, because in all of our getting, get understanding.

You concluded that which music was amoral?

Look, dude: there's no such thing as "Christian (style of music)" There is good art, and there is bad art.

I find that much of the Christian music today is, simply put, bad art marketed in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and sold to a sub-culture that eagerly eats it up. Instead, what I suggest is this. Listen to music that pleases the ear, that has good, uplifting lyrics, and evaluate it first on the basis of Scripture and, where Scripture doesn't make it clear, by your conscience.

I listen to a ton of so-called 'secular music' and I have no issue with it.

Can I recommend a good book? I have had the pleasure of knowing this man personally, though admittedly not very well, and he is a great Christian man and a great writer.

Check out Knowing God by the Rev. Dr. J.I. Packer. Excellent, excellent read. Packer goes into a great deal of depth about what Scripture says about the character of God, and it may help you get a more solid foundation: after all, the beginning and end point of all our Theology must be Theos (God) and His revealed character.

Just to give you an idea, it's only been in print 25 years or so (Packer is a pretty old dude, in his 80's now I think) but it's already considered a modern Christian classic by most.

Ryan...something in your earlier post triggered a weird response from the server that's causing it. I did the same thing to a post a while back. I think it's whatever you said right after the word "Christian" and before the end of the quoted word.

I don't know if you read my post in SI&Q, but it's not actually a hidden text feature but an HTML code for style overriding that Ryan accidentally implemented.

anyway...welcome back to your journal Jer.
