For some reason I read the above as "we performed Pirates of the Caribbean at church". And I thought wow, that's a unique music choice
| That would be odd.

| Another day of school. I have to get to study for my math quiz that's happening later today. Yesterday, I had to get some information on Joel Osteen because he's coming to the New Jersey area and Madison Square Garden this year, and my mom wants me to go. I'll go, but only to test his message.
Also, this month is going to be my Birthday. I'm going to be 17 years old this month. I can't wait to see what type of gifts I'll get, but it's better to give than to recieve.
That's all for now.

| What a week. I already received another infraction for posting another thread just today. Life's been tough. I'm also going to be seeing Joel Osteen with my folks this month. Not becasue I want to, but because I need to discern of what happens at that event.
I've also been handling with peer pressure a little these days. My mom wanted to know if I gotten over Creflo Dollar. Not only that, she's been having a "believe Creflo Dollar" spirit and that I fear that it is slowly, but surely overtaking her. What she's doing is the spirit of idolatry. Sadly, this puts me in a bad position. After going through that thread on the guy, she'd probably ground me for life.
I really wish I knew what to do in times like this. Right now, I don't put I'm still going to trust in the Lord, because he's my protector and shelter. It's like that verse in II Thessalonians 3:3, "The Lord is faithful. And he will strengthen and protect you from the Devil."(emphasis mine). I still got to hang in there.

| I think it would be helpful if instead of posting a bunch of different threads with links, if you created a single thread to put all of the things you want opinions on. Also, I think a lot of the people who see your threads where you're looking for opinions would find it very helpful to know what you think about the article and why you feel like it has merit for being posted.
just a couple thoughts there. I try to be helpful whenever I can

| No, but if she on most of the threads that I did(especially on Creflo Dollar, Rick Warren and Joel Osteen), all I can say is that she'd ground me for life.

Have you tried sitting down and talking to your mom in a non-abrasive way? You might learn a lot about her and way he believes certain things if you invest solely in her every now and again, and it might help you to know how to open her eyes to other teachers and doctrinal teachings.

| When I get to college one day, I'm going to try to get special programming, where I can pick my own Christian Broadcasting. The channel should include John Hagee Today, The 700 club, Greg Laurie, Messenger International with John Bevere, The Way of the Master, Billy Graham classics, Derek Prince and many more.

| Why not just watch regular tv, or not watch tv at all?
it sounds like you're getting a lot of confusing theology and trying to wade through it all. I know if I spent all of my time listening to sermons I'd go crazy. It's really not healthy to delve so far into theology that you forget the importance of it all.

| I find Christian televised teachers to be largely heretical. I find listening to sermons and stuff to be more harmful to my spiritual life than anything else.
If I may be so bold as to suggest an actual good website for learning the Christian faith I would suggest looking into www.ccel.org and looking up the writings of some of the great Christians of the past.
I know what its like to grow up in a home where heretical views are held and enforced with brutality.
But the first thing I would say to you is this. You need to put less stock in what people say today, and if it cites the cite which that last CCM article you posted was citing, just laugh. Its silly. I take The Onion more seriously.
But mostly, I would encourage you to read and study historical Christianity. |
