I'm not sure when/if a playoff system emerges, but year after year outcomes make it clear that one is needed. KU sure played as a team last night and I was quite proud of the Big 12 as a whole. I still agree that Mizzou was dissed when they weren't invited to a BCS game, and they sure took out that frustration on Arkansas. I can also see a sceniario where the final AP poll
could end up placing a one-loss Kansas team at #2 and Mizzou (who only lost to one team, albeit 2 times) lower, even though they defeated Kansas! There 's too much controversy, and if Divison II, III, all the other sports in NCAA decide with a playoff, there is really no excuse.
I still think you can involve 4 BCS bowl games, using a similar system of computer/writers polls, (8teams) and seed them so 8 vs1, etc. The winners of those go to a final 4 to play a double header the next week, and a final game following that. The bowl system is still in play, creating the desired revenue to the host cities, and the NCAA, would enjoy additional revenue from whatever network bids for the rights to those additional 3 games. Sure there would still be teams that feel left out, but it's sure better than what happens now.
