| Not really.
Matthew 22:23-30
The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.' Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. So too the second and third, down to the seventh. After them all, the woman died. In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her."
But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."

| I suppose it is a sticky situation for Mormons, however, as they [apparently] neither read nor believe the Scriptures. Their idea of being bound in a celestial kingdom to one's family is odd.

| That was my point; for Mormons, not Christians. |

No group is more emphatically and publicly opposed to the practice of polygamy than the Latter-day Saints.

Erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the LDS were supportive of polygamy? Perhaps I'm not up to date on Mormons? |

It's caused by men marrying multiple wives, stashing them around the city, and having them file as single mothers! It's very much a way of life. Houses with "mother-in-law" apartments. Houses back to back on different streets, but with the fence enclosing both lots. Duplexes. Everyone knows about the elephant on the couch, but they do their level best to deny that it ever existed. |

#9 | | Red Sox Rocker | What is this doing in Philosophy? If we want to have a philosophical discussion about polygamy, let's have it. (and if we're philosophically discussing it, we don't need to quote Scripture)

| Ok, here is a philosophical question of sorts. If you are a practicing Secular Humanist, then why not practice polygamy?

Most people would not have much luck finding two people willing to be married to them at the same time. Just because you're pagan doesn't mean you're a flaming lunatic.
