A bit of both. There's not 500,000 different weapons, exactly. Each weapon is made by a company (or it may have been thrown together by a rogue) and there are also alien weapons and each weapon is customizable. So you may have 45 different assault rifles, each with its own distinct flavor. They gave an example of a high end shotgun. The company/family that manufactured it was called Jakobs. Jakobs weapons are known for their distinctive wood stock (not many wood weapons thousands of years in the future) and their dedication to quality. This particular shotgun had a narrow spread and a slow rate of fire. The result: if your aim is good, and your depth perception correct, this weapon is a one shot kill. Other shotguns may behave more like, say, the Halo 1/SWBattlefront 2 shotgun, and have a wider spread. Some guns can be purchased at any of the pawn/gun shops you encounter.
They made a point of saying that thus far, they're just finishing up the
human weapons. Once they add plasma/laser rifles and whatever kind of crazy thing they can think of, we'll be having quite a hard time figuring out just which weapon suits us best.
There's also about 500,000 different armor/equipment choices/combos.
And it's on PS3 and 360. I don't think it's on the wii. The wii would explode if it tried to run this.
