It's so sad to see someone with tremendous God-given ability throw it all away. I only hope others can learn from these mistakes Michael Vick has made.

all things considered, I'm sure part of his plea bargain was a minimum sentence...

I just really hope that the NFL refrains from suspending him until after he serves his prison sentence.

Yeah, he'll probably get a light sentance, but I'm sure there'll still be some decent prison time.

I guess he was lying through his teeth. Heh.

This case is so different from other "celebrities" being in court. The government is indicting Vick and three others, and they've all plead guilty.

I think Vick has seen his career flushed down the toilet, although it depends somewhat on the sentence and Goodell's suspension.

The very beginning of the article says that he faces up to 18 months in prison.

This effectively ends his football career, unless he plans to come back as a receiver or a defensive back or something. He will be out at a minimum of two year, and he was not that good of a QB to start with. He is goign to have a hard time finding a team to pick him up after this.

the article changed. The details of the plea weren't known when the article was first posted and it just said "up to five years."

Idk i think some team will give him another shot at QB but i dont think he'll do much.He was exciting and fun to watch but thats the reason we shouldve used him more as RB or something. That being said idk what'll happen to him but so long.

The problem is that after he gets out of prison and serves his subsequent suspension, he is going to have PETA and other animal-rights protesters follow him everywhere. If another NFL team tries to hire him, PETA and their ilk will give the franchise so much crap at every game. Vick will come with so much baggage after this that it would be like trying to logically explain hiring two or three T.O.'s.

Pardon my ignorance when it comes to the trial process, but if you plead guilty, do you still go through a trial, with a jury convicting and sentencing you? Or do you skip that process by pleading guilty? Does Vick go straight to jail?

AFAIK you skip the trial and go straight to sentencing.

Right. A guilty plea means no criminal trail. I believe that the judge can still call witnesses to help him decide the severity of sentencing.

So is it just the judge that decides the sentence, or is there a jury? Kind of off-topic, but still applicable.
