How often do you "play" together as a team....not musically.

I just got back from the National Worship Leader's Conference and one of the common themes I heard was that worship teams need to get out of the church, no instruments or gear and just go do fun stuff together from time to time. Get to be friends as well as teammates.

Do you? and if so, how often? What kinds of things have you done as a team?

About once or twice a year! I know should be more, but we usually have a workshop we go to together then around Christmas we have a get together.

Our Worship Team's drummer & I have been friends for 25+ years, and have played music together in a number of different contexts. We do socialize outside of church. One of the singers is my girlfriend...'nuf said. But except for me, they're all married...and you know that single people are the pariahs of the church.

Our youth worship band is so tight knit, it's not even funny. We all go to school at the church, and we are the most involved people in the youth group. All of my best friends are on the team. We have a lot of fun.

Youth worship team: Quite a bit . We actually have two worship teams for the youth group, and the one I'm on hangs out quite often.

As for the Sunday morning one... Not so good results. We barely ever do anything as a team.

We go to Bennigans every Thursday after rehearsal and have a cold one, maybe get some food. Good fellowship

Every Friday night after practice we all go to our pastor's house, sometimes stopping to eat along the way. We hang out there (our former worship leader who is now in med. school is his son) and swim or go to the hot tub and just relax with each other before church the next day. Then we also have social events every once in a while.

Rarely. We recently had a worship team picnic...lots of good food, pool, volleyball, etc...maybe a quarter of the team showed up.
It's difficult for adults who are married with children and already bound by multiple commitments to make yet another one.
I'd like for us to be able to visit a local rock wall or hit up a bowling alley or something like that but I'm doubtful that many would show up.
Excessive busyness is a sad reality of the 21st century.
