Wink I got 27 mpg on my last trip.

Yeah, I realise that it's not really that impressive of a number. I did a 270 mile round trip through the poconos two weeks ago where I spent most of my time on the blue route doing 75-80 MPH with the air conditioning blastin. On the way back, I spent 45 minutes sitting in a traffic jam up trying to get back onto I-95 south.

All in all, that's pretty unspectacular except for the fact that I got that mileage in a lightly modded, tire smoking 5.7L Z28 that makes over 300HP at the wheels where it counts.

I just thought I'd share and maybe try to help show that V8's are not automatically the gas guzzlers that people assume them to be. Once I'm completely done with exhaust and have it tuned for peak efficiency, I wouldn't be suprised if I hit that 30 MPG mark.....as long as I can keep my foot out of it.

Those things actually were known to get very good mileage.
My buddy out in Cali constantly got high 20's from all 3 of his last-gen 5.7l F-bodies.

That's not that uncommon for a road trip. At highway cruising speeds with a steady throttle, you can really bump those numbers up. Imagine what you could experience by running a synthetic oil.

I've ran synthetic oil in all of the performance engines that I've had for the past ten years. As far as a steady throttle and me goes......well..........

We still need to take a run up to one of the Philly-area Guitar Centers.

I can drive us in the Neon and we'll get mileage in the high 30's!

Yeah, make the Camaro like one of those clapped-out Civics...no seats, no carpet, no A/C, no power steering, no heater, no door/dash/package panels...then remove most of the bolts holding the fenders and door panels on, swiss cheese every piece of metal that has a surface area larger than 1 square inch...oh, and remove the side window glass, too...but add a big wing and some chrome lug-nutted steelies.
Then brag to your friends how your VEEEEETECH POWERZZ runs low 15s and gets 40MPGEEZZ YO...all in a car that you can't drive in the rain/snow/cold/heat/wind/etc...

We'll definately have to do that. I'll start practicing my 'iron man' riff.

I suppose that I could have dumped the Mrs. off somewhere.

I don't believe in stripping down cars unless it's gunna be a track only car. I don't believe in owning a track only cause you can't enjoy them on the street.
