CGR Gathering, Southern Style!

Alrighty folks, due to the recent success of the CGR gathering of Mtlfest, it is becoming necessary to organize a gathering of CGR members in the Southern Portion of the US.

Seth (RawkforChrist) has begun the first stage by sending PM's gauging interest. I decided to up him one by starting this thread.

I say we shoot for a gathering sometime in 2008.

And I will defeat Daniel Straight in Goldeneye.

Edit:
Hot Springs, Arkansas, Memorial Day Weekend 2008.

Staying either at a campground, or in the 4H Center.
Sweet Tea will be readily available.

More details to come.

That does not mean that nothing will come of it.

Exactly. These things take time. Nearly a year of planning went into MtlFest before it actually occurred.

Gustin (Crstngtrplyr77)
Jc (I don't know if everyone knows his name)
William (Boy Genius)
Daniel (bobthecockroach)
Jason (H.M. Murdock)
Andrew (JayCarrfan)
and Nate

These people are on the list of people I sent pm's
so far
Gustin
William
Daniel
and Andrew have said they're game
along with myself

Now the question is
do we want to stay in the woods par say
as done at Mtlfest?
Do we want to gather at some other large public event such as Memphis in May?
I want to hear what everyone else would like to do
I know I wouldn't mind all of us going on like a canoe trip
(I'm sure Andrew would be game)

One note about us staying in the woods: We were staying at a cabin owned by the hosts of the fest. I do not recommend leaving yourselves away from civilization if you do not have a similar situation.

A public campground would work though. People could bring their own tents and sleeping bags. Just don't isolate yourselves from civilization, as Art said.

One thing we need to decide before most anything else is when it is to be held. After that, we can aim for a location, but we need a date first because then people can start to guage if it will even fit into their calendar. That being said, I am good for anytime after the 17th of May until the around this point in August next year, provided I know within the next month or so on a tentative date.
I can also go just about anywhere, so location shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty flexible on dates as of now. As long as I can ask off.

I *heart* canoeing.

All I know is I'll probably have camp one week during the summer. Otherwise I am flexible.

So, exactly what region are we planning to host these festivities? How far is everyone willing to go?

I'm thinking this week in August would be really good
seeing as we're all here right now
maybe that means next year it'll be the same

I'm thinking more than likely Arkansas
though I don't know
it would be the between point for people from Louisiana and Tennessee

As long as it's a weekend type of thing not too late in July, I should be fine. My school doesn't get out until July, so August would be the best, but I should be able to easily fit whatever other dates in.

I'm willing to drive around 6 or 7 hours (from Nashville) to wherever and I'll gladly drive anyone else along the way.

I'll drive about 6 hours from Memphis. 8 hours if I'm living in Starkville.
