August sounds good for me because it clears out the rest of the summer for me to do other stuff without worrying about a break in the middle.
I also like the idea of Arkansas - it's central enough to get people from Louisiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, maybe some Texas folk, etc.

Of course, it also has the benefit that anything in that state will be pretty much between my house in North Louisiana and my school in North Arkansas.

I'm wondering if Arkansas may be the best location. JC and Seth both live there, and it's about equi-distance from me and the Straights. I'll go straight through Memphis to get there so I could even drive with Andrew.

That would leave out Patrick though. And if the Straights don't want to attend then it may be better to do it somewhere a little more central in the Southeast

I have a cousin in Little Rock, so Arkansas would be great for me. I could see her before or after the festivities (I haven't seen her in quite some time).

I really like the idea of the Spring River Andrew
but I do agree with Gustin if the Straights don't want to come
then we would more than likely need to move it to somewhere in Tennessee or somewhere farther east.......

and at this point I'm assuming the first week/weekend in August will be best

William is in Louisiana too though. Arkansas is really looking promising.

Let me try and get a hold of Jc and make sure he sees this thread. He may know of some good camping spots that are pretty near to civilization. What with being in the Boy Scouts and everything.

Patrick, for the record, has been talking about attending MtlFest's successor, FireFlyFest, tentatively planned for June of '08, in Ohio.

So, by all means exclude him, because then he'd have to come here. *chuckle *

As cool as simultaneous CGR gatherings would be, June is not a good time.

Well, I think one CGR Gathering a year is enough for anyone, but Patrick is always welcome to attend.

I've pm'd Jc and he hasn't responded
and I don't know
he goes to college pretty close to Spring River
and that place would be something we would canoe during the day
then stay at a group site that night
at least from what I've heard
but if we wanted to do something closer to actual civilization there is a group campsite within ten minutes of my house, which I assume is about the same from Jc's house too, though I've never been there
and it's in town
seeing as we live in a National Park it would be hard for them not to have a campsite

I sent him a message offline. He'll probably see that before he sees this.

Patrick has also said that if a Gathering popped up in the South, he might go to it instead.
Maybe we should let him say though...

Yes, William is in Louisiana.
Of course, he is also in North Louisiana, which makes getting to the central regions easier on him than on those in the Southern part of the state (e.g. the Straights).

I think it's time we decide on the most important aspect by far.

What are we gonna call this shindig?

I couldn't think of anything good, so I gave a generic title...
We could up Mtlfest by making tshirts to give out there

Haha. I like that idea.

We need a kick-ass name though.
