| School & marriage My girlfriend and I have been talking about our future together. We're both still in college, but she's a year old than me and so she'll graduate this spring. I still have two years before I graduate. And right now, at least, two years is feeling like a long time to wait to get married. And for that matter, it complicates things because she essentially has to wait around and kill time for a year before I graduate. So it'd really be better, from so many aspects, to get married sooner rather than later. Not to mention Paul's whole burning with lust thing...
But I'm still a bit worried. I think we could manage financially. She can work and my part-time job pays pretty well. But I guess my big concern is whether it is wise to start a marriage while I'm still in school. As a computer science major, these last two years the material starts to ramp up. I have to spend a lot of time in labs or doing homework and I'll need to work a part-time internship as well. Then next summer I'll be looking for another full-time internship that will take me who knows where. So my concern is that I won't have the time and energy to devote to her during those first crucial months together.
I guess all that to say... I'm just looking for some input here, especially from those who have gotten married while still in school.

| My wife graduated last summer, but I don't graduate until next May. I got lucky , and managed to only take 13 hours the semester after we got married. Of course, starting in 3 weeks I'll be paying for it.
Really, there isn't going to be a perfect time to get married where there won't be difficulties. If you wait until you graduate to get married, then your first year married you'll also be either hunting for or starting a new job. You might even have to move to get a good job. After about age 8 life never really slows down. I really wouldn't expect things to be significantly easier when you graduate. |

... it might have been "got a good job first" then, then "found a place," then etc.
