Max Lucado: Inspiration for whom?

Who is Max Lucado's audiance? Who is he seeking to inspire? It has become obvious to me, through reading "God Came Near" that Max Lucado's audiance is not as broad as I might have originally thought. Or perhaps he has changed his approach and is simply not as good as he was when he first began.

It is my preliminary impression that Max writes to an upper class society, ones who may not be rich, but are living comfortably. This is perhaps because he is wishing to make a profit, and that is the kind of christians who are most likely to go out and buy his books.

These were just my impressions however, and i am curious to know how others feel about this.

1) Why do you say that?

2) Maybe he's writing primarily to upper-middle class suburban Americans because he is an upper-middle class suburban American.

Indeed, you write from what you know, generally.

I've always felt like Max's writings were towards a fairly general audience. I'm also curious as to why you feel his writings are targeting the upper-middle class.

The only Max Lucado book I've read is "Cure for the Common Life. It spoke to me, and I don't think of myself as upper class society at all. I wouldn't even say middle class actually.

Middle class for me too. I'm currently reading his "Experiencing the Heart of Jesus" workbook and is really helping me.
