| Speed Racer movie In resent history there has been a number of movies, which have tugged on the heartstrings by being based on TV shows that have a special place in our memories. These movies try to cash in on our fond memories of the shows. While most of these movies have left a bad taste in my mouth, there has been one or two (such as Transformers) that have lived up to the hype.
The latest movie that has me mildly exited is the Speed Racer movie. It will be made by the Wachowski Brothers (known for making the matrix series). Speed Racer is played by Emile Hirsch (the girl next door), Racer X will be played by Matthew Fox (lost), Speed Racer’s parents will be John Goodman and Susan Sarandon and Christina Ricci will play Trixie.
And of course, the real star of the movie, the Mach 5:
So What do you guys think?

Too me it looks like the new one is based on a Corvette. Maybe a stingray?

| I somehow missed watching the cartoon - ever.
So I very well might love this movie as long as it's "cool". With the Wachowski's directing it probably will be. |

parts of it look cool...a lot of it looks like a children's movie a la "Spy Kids"...

| Disappointment. Not that I was expecting a work of genius, but I really don't like the look of it. The art direction seems really lame to me. As far as everything else about it. Meh. Could be a fun popcorn flick if nothing else. |

| I think...that the Wachowski brothers were wasted on something like this. Seriously, why did they take this movie? It's not at all like their previous work (Matrix, V), which was brilliant. It's like...hiring Van Gogh to make a kids' coloring book.
Too bad.

| I too am somewhat disappointed with what i am seeing. I will reserve my judgement until i see more, but it doesn't bode well.
I think it may fall in with the thunderbirds movies and alike. I don't know why they keep aiming these movies at kids, the people who really want to watch them are no longer 8-10 year olds, but are people who have grown up on these show and want a movie that they will be able to reminisce about these show without being embarrassed to admit that they saw the movie. I would have thought that the Wachowski Brothers would have understood this. But it seem, from this trailer, that they too have missed this point.

| Quite possibly the greatest movie I've ever seen.

| I loved the show as a kid.
I'm really, REALLY nervous about this.
