HOPES FISH

Since I've been asking so many questions here I figured I'd start a thread.
We're HOPES FISH. 4 Guys out of Bham, AL. We're currently in the studio about to master a 4 song demo and starting to get together merch, demos, and promo packs for our invasion of the South.

I'll post more later. For now, here's our myspace with an old audio clip from a coffee house we did last year. The mp3 on myspace is one of our originals, in acoustic form. Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks for checking us out!

Well, we go in tonight to finish the recording. We need to add some Ebowed guitar for 'ambiance', change some keys to a skankier sound, and possibly add some mandolin to one track.

Then we start mixing (also hopefully tonight) and in a few weeks send out to MasterMix in Atlanta.

We've got two gigs coming up in August. A 3 day retreat for a church here and a block party. Pretty pumped to get to play again and this will give us about $2000 to put towards the demo and distribution.

We've pretty much got the contract, cover page, and rider finished up and these two gigs will be our guinnea pigs.

Looks like things are about to take a turn for the good.

Finally got the recordings finished! A few weeks of mastering and then we send it off to be mastered in Atlanta. This has been a LONG process.

On a good note; we got our T-shirts yesterday and they look sweet. I'll try to post a pic of them.

So, as soon as the demo is done we're going to start putting together promo packs. Anyone else done this? We were going to throw in the demo, and 8x12 of us, a bio sheet. What should go in a promo pack? How do you decide who you send them to?

Finally, something relevant to post!

We've got a few gigs coming up in the next few weeks and we've been selling T-shirts like crazy. There's a pic below...let me know what you think.

AND, we updated our myspace and added a track from our new CD. The song is about 99% done so we threw it up so that there would be something new on the page. I won't tell you what's left to finish, but I eagerly await responses on the song and the recording. It's one of our original praise tunes. Let me know what you think.

Ok, so here's the finished version of "Beautiful Plan". It still needs to be mastered, but the mixing is complete.

This is the most laid back, simple song we've done.

I'm anxious for some unbiased response so let me know what you think! (How do you get people to comment on these threads anyways? )
-shane

*Edit* I can't get the new version to load. I'll try again later. Check it out on our myspace: www.myspace.com/hfrocks

Ok, ok, I'll listen to it and respond, but you have to do the same for me.

*John listens to the song*

From what I could hear, I like it a lot. I'm at work and so I can't play music too loud (and currently I don't have headphones), but I like how soothing the song is. I'll try to listen to it later at a normal volume level so I can give a more in-depth response.

Because Myspace and Uni Dortmund are both stupid, I don't think I'm going to get this to work. Myspace won't let me load the song fully before playing it, and Uni Dortmund won't provide a decent internet connection.

But I did try!

Ooooh, working now. It's really good, Shane. Of course, I don't think I count as the unbiased listener you were after.

My only critique would be that it seems a bit short.

Thanks. A lot different from Tried by Fire eh?

We thought of adding a bridge, but it just didn't seem to fit in. If you're only critique is shortness, maybe that's good. It leaves the listener wanting more.

I'm hoping to have the next song up in a few days. The last 2 should follow shortly thereafter. Thanks for the responses!

Soothing huh?

Ok, I can go for that. I'm anxious to post the next few songs now. They're considerably different from this one.

I finally got to listen to it at an acceptable volume, and I am quite fond of it. I'm excited to hear your other songs. Keep us posted.

Will do. Our engineer had a few more tricks to pull on the second song but I'm kinda hoping it will be up by the weekend.

I should also mention that we're trying to get out of the Bham area. So, if anyone in the southeast is interested (Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida and everything in between) shoot me a PM. Thanks!

Shane will do.

And I assure you, I want more music more than you do! I'll keep you guys posted. In the meantime we've got a fall festival we're playing this weekend. We're pretty pumped. We're doing four very distinct sets: General Worship, Old-Time Country Hymns, Our Originals, and a set of 'stuff we grew up on'.

We're particularly excited about the last one. We get to do a lot of DC Talk, Newsboys, Bleach, Smalltown Poets, Audio A, Stephen Curtis Chapman, etc. that we NEVER get to do anymore. We're thinking about compiling a medley of all these to start putting into our live shows after this event.

Oh my goodness. Please record some of the old-time country hymns.
