good point. point taken. i must say that im a bit of a perfectionist. i try not to sin and so. but by doing that im actually only fixing my attention to those sin and try their extermination meanwhile thats impossible. i wanna be a warrior but how can i fight if things are not right in my life myself? but ok thats just off-topic... should post this elsewhere...

Let's face it, I love music. I especially like heavy metal music. But I am also a Christian and really love Jesus. I listen to all kinds of Christian music and like that. I have a particular fondness for Heavy metal music. i do listen to a lot of Christian metal. But I also like secular metal i do stay away from the satanic bands like Slayer and Venom or any other band that write about death, evil and other dark subjects. I alos play guitar and read the guitar magazines to get tip on how to be a beter player and find out what is going on in the world of guitars. I do likw AC/DC and Randy Rhoads and am learning How to play Crazy Train. But Rick Warren(authoe of the book"the Purpose Driven life") said in the book that music without lyrics is neither christian or secular but its the lyrics that make it Christian or secular( my parapharse of his words). So if anyone listens to secular music for the pure musical inspiration of it paying no attention to the lyrics..is that sin?

i dont like pop... in fact i hate it but ill just use it for my example:

the youth out there, all listnin to the top40 and rap music and rnb and such. that isnt sinning. they dont pay attention to the lyrics. still not sinning. they get influenced by the lyrics. that could lead to sin. they sin because the lyrics influenced them the way they do. like the song "sex on the beach"... people could ignore the lyrics but still they go to bed with everyone. but ok... thats just my view on it.

Just have a look through this thread for many reasons why listening to secular music is not sinful.

How about bands like Children of Bodom? I own Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Death Roll, love listening to COB but the lyrics are a bit questionable. Is singing about death and dying actually against the Bible? I mean, dying isnt the end if you are a Christian. Am I right?

also, there are no Christian bands that sound near as good as Bodom from what I've heard. I own the first Extol cd and Immortal Souls - Ice Upon the Night.

one more thing. Why cant more Christian Bands be like Immortal souls and not be labeled as explicitly Christian. Im not saying that you should reject your Faith, but wouldnt it be more effective to spread the messages of Christianity with more subliminal messages and a few outright "Praise the Lord" songs? It would be less of a turn off for normal metalheads and such. Many bands have mostly neutral songs or subliminal messages songs and just a few outright "Worship satan" songs...

just a thought. Any response?

the lyrics of my #1 favorite COB song (Kissing the Shadows)

are illegal to post.

Those aernt explicitly satanic are they?

I personally don't think so. I mean, death is a part of life, isn't it?

By the way, posting all the lyrics to a song is illegal.

Its against the site rules. CGR is this way because they were threatened with legal action at one point.

Its not about being a crybaby.

NOW i understand. well i meant more like the labels being crybabys because of some lyrics. you can see them if you type the title and lyric on google. its worse downloading the song but well.

It's alright. Don't get to hard on yourself. Just don't do it again, that's all.

depending on the artist. some are worst than others. and dont go all critical and say "anything that is not glorifiying god is going to make you go to hell". for instance, simple plan-they are secular, but they arent as bad ad marilyn manson-not even close. BUT, here is where it turns back to your decision. the bible does say that if you are not for god you are agaisnt him. this also goes for the secular music artists, so if you disagree, then go ahead and listen to secular music, but as for me-there is every kind of christian music out there. rap, hip-hop, rock, metal, hardcore, screamo, emo, absolutly ANYTHING. the choice is yours.

This also goes for fast food workers, tv shows, movies, plumbers, business men...well everything really. Music isn't the magic category that gets special treatment.
