Second, we certainly wouldn't want anyone actually thinking about their faith now would we? No, blind following is much better, isn't it?

Would you try to reach a drug addict without knowing what they were going through? Would you try to council anyone without understanding their situation?

The same applies, we need to endure the shaky morals of the music for two reasons, one to subvert the musicianship to provide good alternatives for Christians, and secondly to be able to provide a relevant outreach to those who hold these beliefs. If you aren't strong enough in your faith to listen to this, to make this investment, you should steer clear. As with anything.

I think the real question is:

Should guys have long hair or *gasp*, even earrings??? Should women cut their hair and only wear dresses? Is the guitar the tool of Satan? Did Amy Grant backmask evil messages in her songs?

Now those are some real questions.

Should Christians listen to secular music?
Yes.

Is it right to listen to secular music, I don't know. Is it wrong in my opinion, and I stress my opinion, to support it if it has views that you don't believe are right. That is simply a yes.

Well if you want to make a theological point... ...Is there anything in scripture that leads you to believe the devil can own souls? Also, why would he want them? Moreover, what makes the devil the patron saint of hard rock?

Why do you say the devil did? Mankind is a pretty corrupt critter. We do a darn good job corrupting things without diabolical influence.

How so? People throw the word satanic around a lot. While some Nirvana I have heard has been objectionable, (and I am no Nirvana expert) none of it was satanic persay.

What do you mean by satanic?

Dictionary.com defines it as:

satanic

adj 1: extremely evil or cruel; expressive of cruelty or befitting hell; "something demonic in him--something that could be cruel"; "fires lit up a diabolic scene"; "diabolical sorcerers under the influence of devils"; "a fiendish despot"; "hellish torture"; "infernal instruments of war"; "satanic cruelty"; "unholy grimaces" [syn: demonic, diabolic, diabolical, fiendish, hellish, infernal, unholy] 2: of or relating to Satan; "Satanic verses" [syn: Satanic]

Do subliminal messages work? Or are they just hype from the 80's to be edgy to sell more albums?

I can backwards mask quite easily. Heck, Five Iron frenzy does it with some of the most ridiculously stupid things possible.
