A worship band?

I know that when you are in a worship team it should be for god and not ourselves right. But we have this thing called praise rallys and we do it once a month. We play like 7 songs so it's quite long. Is it wrong if we play it kind of like a concert because that's when usually a lot of non-christians come. I mean like songs from Switchfoot, Relient K, and so on. Cause it kind of feels like when we play those we are more showing off then praising god.

You said it yourself. Get it prayer so that your heart is right when you're doing the "concert." If there are a lot of non-Christians there, outreach is an important part, although I think preaching is definitely out of the picture. Hopefully you guys are reflecting Christ in how you act and it's obvious to everyone that you guys are Christians. I think much more than that would turn people off in this situation. Keep up the good work.

I don't have a problem with it.

I listen to worship CDs in the car and I'm asamed to say I do it because i ENJOY THE MUSIC. If I get lost in worship when I'm driving I run the risk of killing people.

It entertains God. Why shouldn't it entertain the congregation and the band too!

if there are non-christians there, why is preaching definitely out of the picture? Shouldn't it be even more essential if non-believers are there and the music is giving the impression of being a "concert"?

A concert is just that. Just don't let Sunday morning turn that direction and you will be fine.
